August 15, 2018- Strangulation Training: Charting the Course from Abuser to Murderer

  • Ivy Tech Sellersburg 8204 County Road 311 Sellersburg, IN, 47172 United States (map)

This one-day training will educate prosecutors, law enforcement, medics, and nurses on proving difficult strangulation cases. Strangulation is a particularly dangerous form of domestic violence. Strangulation victims are much more likely to become homicide victims than domestic partners who were never choked. The course will feature Dr. Bill Smock, Police Surgeon from Louisville Police Department, and stresses the importance of investigation and encourages a team approach to ensure all stakeholders are on the same page, as there are many hurdles to prosecuting strangulation cases. There will be 7.65 CLE hours available.
